In the deep and steamy jungles of the Philippines lurk many fearful monsters. As all Philippinos know,
one of the beast which is most feared is the Santilmo. It is a qhostly, bright, demon which appears at
the time of a wrongful death. In my new book, Santilmo, the beast appears to avenge the death of an innocent man, gruesomely killed in front of his family for the entertainment of the Japanese troops who occupied the Philippine Islands during the Second World War. The gruesome Santilmo appears, through a mist after the poor man is needlessly slaughtered and sets about chasing down the men responsible for his death. It tracks them down one by one until they are all dead, and the officer who ordered the killing is driven mad before being slaughtered by the beast.

Behind the scenes
Santilmo is the second in my series of novellas about supernatural legends in the Philippines. My wife
insists she has actually seen the monster, so for many Philippinos they are a very real thing. It is comforting to think that is someone kills a loved one, there is something that will come along to avenge the untimely death. There is virtually no law in the Philippines that will help you, if you are poor, so many people like to trust in the supernatural, rather than the law officers. If you search the web for ‘Santilmo’, you will find several books have been written about the occurrence, and a film made. I also
found a song written about the beast.
